When Manhattan Construction needed a flooring partner for the largest sports and entertainment venue in North America, they turned to Intertech to deliver 35,000 square yards of custom flooring across the Dallas Cowboys Stadium's most visible spaces.

THE CHALLENGE

The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington represented an unprecedented scale: 3 million square feet, 135 acres, and up to 2,300 workers on site daily. Manhattan Construction needed a flooring subcontractor who could handle the complexity of installing flooring across private suites, locker rooms, broadcast booths, training facilities, retail spaces, and administrative offices while coordinating with 225 other subcontractors.

The timeline was already aggressive for a 40-month build schedule. Then the Cowboys organization moved the opening date up by two months to accommodate a George Strait concert in June 2009. The flooring team had just weeks to complete installation across dozens of spaces, each with different requirements and finishes.

OUR SOLUTION

Starting in September 2008, Intertech's lean crew of 12-15 specialists tackled the stadium's core and public areas with strategic scheduling and deep product expertise. Our project manager, crew chief, and service manager coordinated installations to stay out of the way of other trades while maintaining momentum on multiple fronts.

The scope included high-performance products selected for their durability and aesthetics: Johnsonite rubber flooring in workout and training facilities where Dallas Cowboys players would be lifting and training daily, Chilewich Plynyl flooring in the 10,000-square-foot retail Pro Shop to withstand heavy foot traffic, and Collins & Aikman carpet tiles throughout administrative offices, all installed with environmentally safe adhesives.

THE RESULTS

Over six months, Intertech installed:

  1. 35,000 square yards of carpet tile and broadloom
  2. 65,000 linear feet of resilient base
  3. 28,000 square feet of resilient flooring
  4. 15,000 square feet of rubber flooring

The entire stadium was completed two months ahead of the original schedule, ready for the June 6, 2009 George Strait concert that christened the venue. Despite the compressed timeline and the organized chaos of thousands of workers converging on a 73-acre stadium footprint, Intertech's work met Manhattan Construction's standards and contributed to one of the most impressive sports facilities ever built.

WHAT IT MEANS

This billion-dollar project showcased Intertech's ability to handle massive, fast-track installations while maintaining the quality standards that marquee projects demand. When you're installing flooring in spaces where NFL players train, where national broadcasters work, and where hundreds of thousands of fans will walk, the work has to be both beautiful and built to last. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium proved Intertech could deliver on both.
